Tuesday: The good, the bad & the ugly

The good:

  • Afton’s successful Vocabulary Costume Parade celebrating “Read Across America Day” and Dr. Seuss' birthday. Each class was assigned certain letters of the alphabet, and she had I-Q. After getting rejected by her teacher for her first five words picks (her teacher wanted more challenging, out of the ordinary words and no two could be the same), we finally landed on PRECIPITATION. We like rain. And snow. And she was one of the students who got highlighted in the parade!
And here's Rowan sporting her Dr. Seuss hat that she made in her kindergarten class.
  • Throwing batting practice to my girls at the park after guitar & piano. We are excited that it's ball season again. Busy months ahead at the Brown house. But thankfully, Barrett & Afton are on the same team this year (probably the only time this will ever happen), so we'll only have 2 teams to watch this year. Rowan is playing coach pitch.
  • Ryan taking Barrett & Afton to our new neighbor’s house for a hitting clinic. (He’s a former major league baseball hitting coach for the Oakland A’s and Chicago Cubs who has coached the likes of Ricky Henderson and other greats in the game.) They all came home totally stoked, not only because of the good hitting tips he gave them, but because he was just so dang cool and had so many amazing stories.
  • Finding a screaming deal on some new Airwalks for Easton.
  • Barrett earning a 298 out of 300 on her ELP project: a custom designed castle reminiscent of the mid-evil times. They are studying that era and were tasked to erect a small scale model of the real deal incorporating all the required elements. She did such a great job!

  • Enjoying a delicious, albeit late, Mexican dinner together as a family.
  • Hitting the hay at 9:15 pm. Oh, what a treat!

The bad:

  • Having to go to the dentist for my semi-annual cleaning. (Thankfully, the pearly whites are in great shape. I just had to endure the “you need to floss more” lecture. Nothing new.)
  • Dealing with the headaches of insurance claim filings. I can’t wait for this to be over.
  • Barrett’s castle getting knocked over (apparently intentionally) by a stinky boy and getting broken to pieces. She was almost in tears.
  • Whiny kids after dinner.

The ugly:

  • My lovely pink eye & the cold that comes with it. Yes, I am looking fabulous. (No, I won't be uploading any pics).
